A new trellis has been installed at the foot of the garden.

I order to ensure that Rosie can come and go freely, a small cat sized aperture (or "gate") has been crafted into it.

Within 30 minutes of installation, Rosie gave it a test drive (as you can see from the photo).

Her chums Aslan and Kitty (Aslan's mum) then paid a social call through the trellis gate.

Rosie spent an hour or so in the garden yesterday, enjoying the sunshine.

Just after I took the photos she decided it would be a good time to bring up a furball!

In order to stave the rise in cat thefts, microchips for cats are due to be made compulsory.

There are around 10 million cats in the UK, and the owners of unmicrochipped cats may face a fine of up to £500 if the bill is passed.
