The Cats of Hanover Facebook Group (set up by Rosie) has been involved with local cat charities for a number of years now.
Under the guise of Santa Paws, and in conjunction with Snowcats Brighton, a cat Advent Calendar was organised during December and £350 raised for Cats Protection Brighton.
As per Cats Protection:
"The Santa Paws advent calendar event organised by Snowcats Brighton, a
group that helps raise funds for local cat charities, has raised £350
for Cats Protection Brighton & District. More than 20 local
professional and amateur artists, including a budding young artist of
seven years old, donated artworks for the event.
From 1-24 December, a different artwork was displayed in the window
of the Dover Castle Pub in Hanover, which usually hosts the Hanover Cat
Pawtrait Exhibition during the Brighton Festival in May. As this year’s
event was cancelled, the organisers decided to delay the exhibition
until December. However, when the pub was forced to close as part of
lockdown rules on 16 December, the exhibition moved to the window of a
nearby house.
Sales of the artworks were organised online and were delivered – via
bicycle – by fundraiser Eva Hellqvist. She said: “It was so inspiring
and fun to organise this fundraising event together with members of the
Cats of Hanover exhibition team. We thought by doing an advent calendar
window display we could put a smile on people’s faces during difficult
times as well as raise money for cats in need. Thanks to the amazing
artists and also a big paw up to those who bought the cat portraits and
helped to raise money for Cats Protection Brighton & District.”
Throughout the event, Lucy Clifford ran the social media site,
posting images of the artworks daily. A big thankyou from Cats
Protection Brighton & District to everyone involved."
